Respite Care

The Scheme

This scheme is operated by the Manager for Respite Care, Older Peoples Health, Auckland Healthcare.It provides short term stays in the facility according to the needs of the client and the Client's caregiver at home.

Such clients enjoy all the advantages that long term residents have, such as access to physiotherapy and participation in occupational therapy.

A team of five General Practitioners visit the complex on a rotating daily basis and short term stay clients are allocated to one of the facility Doctors for the duration of their stay.

Respite Care clients return every few months and soon see the facility as their "Home away from Home". The staff warmly welcome their return and most enjoy the chance to again meet old friends among the residents.
