Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital is an Eden Alternative home transforming care for elders and younger people with physical disability. At Knox, plants, animals, children and meaningful activity are part of our daily life. Greater energy and optimism is our hallmark.
We are looking for exceptional people with curiosity, a warm heart and an innovative spirit. Like our residents who take every opportunity for continued growth and wellbeing, we expect our team to demonstrate a willingness to grow and learn every day.
Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital has a large and vibrant volunteer team, enhancing the lives of residents and providing a rewarding and satisfying experience for volunteers. Volunteers engage with Residents in many ways – from simple companionship over a cup of coffee through to recreational and learning activities, shopping trips and outings. Around 900 volunteers engage with just over 200 residents in activities of various duration and frequency.
This Volunteer Support role supports our weekday Volunteer Coordinator.
The role is to recruit, train and support volunteers and to identify and develop activities. You will commit to maintaining a simplified and streamlined experience for volunteers. You will coordinate volunteers and community groups to host meaningful activities and events on weekends. The position is for 20 hours per week Saturdays and Sundays, and a half day of your choice throughout the week, with some flexibility around hours.
Ideal candidates will have experience in teaching, training or in the health care sector. Experience in volunteer management and/or activities coordination is also desirable. The ideal applicant will have skills in communicating with a wide range of people, be organised, have good initiative and sound judgement.
We offer a dynamic, pleasant and progressive environment in a care home where all we do is driven by our team’s commitment to the Eden Alternative. Knox is conveniently located in Epsom close to public transport and provides adequate parking.
Applicants for this position must have New Zealand Residency or a valid New Zealand Work Visa.
