Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital is seeking a committed and innovative Nurse Practitioner to join Knox Medical Practice.

​

The role

​

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality primary care and nursing services within an aged care setting. You will work closely with our General Practitioners (GPs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to ensure residents receive comprehensive and compassionate care.

​

  • Conduct advanced nursing assessments, diagnoses, and interventions within your scope of practice.

  • Oversee the treatment and care planning of residents with complex health conditions, including prescribing medications and therapeutic interventions.

  • Provide clinical leadership, management, and governance within the practice.

  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage residents’ health concerns while promoting a healthy lifestyle and preventive care.

  • Offer professional supervision and mentoring to RNs, ensuring care aligns with the latest international evidence.

  • Participate in clinical quality improvement programs and practices, including audits, reviews, and monitoring of care records specific to the nurse practitioner role.

 

What you’ll bring:

​

We are looking for a dedicated clinical leader with a strong interest in gerontology and a passion for delivering clinical excellence. The ideal candidate will have:

​

  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand in the Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice, with a valid practising certificate.

  • Experience in Aged Residential Care.

  • A natural ability to collaborate, mentor, and lead within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Collaborative Teamwork – Work alongside GPs, on-site Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and RNs, with additional support from our Lifestyle & Leisure Team and dedicated volunteers.

  • Ongoing Support – Benefit from a strong team of RNs and ENs on every shift, plus a Duty Manager available for afternoon, night, and weekend shifts.
