Code of Residents' Rights Policy

Policy

Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital (EKHH) is on a never-ending journey of culture change to improve the lives of residents by combatting loneliness, helplessness and boredom. 

 

Inherent in the ten principles is a commitment, not only to respecting
residents’ rights, as defined in the New Zealand Health and Disability Code of Rights, but also to
challenging our attitudes and practices in order to de-emphasise traditional institutional care.

Privacy Policy

Policy

Privacy is a basic right of all individuals and all our staff and potential staff, volunteers, residents and potential residents and their family/whanau and carer teams, our suppliers and our contractors have the right to privacy.

All Personal Information held will be gathered, used, accessed, stored, disclosed and disposed of in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (the Act).

If Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital (EKHH) has a privacy breach that it believes has caused (or is likely to cause) serious harm, it will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals as soon as possible.

The Chief Executive Officer is Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital’s nominated Privacy Officer, with delegated authority to the Quality Coordinator if the CEO is unavailable.

Safe Home Policy

Policy

To provide a safe home for residents, staff and volunteers where all are treated with dignity and
respect and are free of any form of abuse, neglect, discrimination, harassment, coercion,
exploitation or misappropriation of property.


To define the procedure for reporting and investigating allegations of abuse.


This policy applies to all residents, staff, volunteers and visitors at Elizabeth Knox Home and
Hospital (EKHH).
